January 2015 e-newsletter

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! We at Joseph's House wanted to share with you some highlights from our holiday season.

The Christmas spirit came alive at Joseph's House, thanks to you. Many of you thought of our guests as you prepared to celebrate with your families: financial contributions were received, many volunteers were present to serve meals to our guests, wish list donations were dropped off, and a lively and delicious Christmas Party was enjoyed by our guests thanks to the good people of Holiday Express.

Our holidays were made brighter through the generosity of people like third-grader Abigail, who, rather than receive a birthday present, held a drive to collect scarves, gloves, hats, and socks, as well as a donation to Joseph's House.

I would also like to acknowledge the staff of Joseph's House, who were present with our guests on Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, and New Year's Eve. Their caring dedication to the mission of Joseph's House to aid the least of our brothers and sisters is a true example to the rest of us. Thank you, Jamella, Lauren, Shaniqua, Sophia, Andrew, Efrain, Ernest, Eugene, Ronald, Tarik, and Terhan, for all that you do.

As you all know, the South Jersey region has been experiencing bitter cold temperatures. As I write this, the temperature is hovering below 20 degrees. Joseph's House has been at full capacity this winter and is a true refuge for the homeless men and women who are our guests. We were featured in a story on Channel 10 News about the local response to the needs of the homeless in this bitter cold weather. You can watch the video here:

Every night, we provide a safe, warm place for 80 of our homeless brothers and sisters to lay their heads, have a meal, take a shower, and be welcomed in a safe, caring, and peaceful environment. We couldn't do this without your support. Thank you, for your donations, your volunteer hours, and all you did for Joseph's House in 2014.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 2015,

John Klein
